Activists 

A political trade good.

Activity 

Any of the six types of manufacturing or research. Manufacturing, Material Research, Time Efficiency Research, Copying, Invention, Reverse Engineering

Adrestia 

An advanced tech 2 version of a Thorax awarded during the 8th Alliance Tournament.

Aeon 

The Amarr super-carrier.

AF 

(initial) Assault Frigate. An Assault Ship class ship.

Afterburner

1. A propulsion module that provides an increase to maximum velocity when activate.

2. The skill at utilizing afterburners.

Ag 

(abbr.) Agression.

Agent 

An NPC corporation representative found in one of the corporation’s stations. Provided the player has high enough standings, they will provide the player with missions.

Aggressed 

A pilot’s state after performing an act of aggression. This state lasts 60 seconds. While in an aggressed state, pilots are denied permission to dock or use stargates.

Aggression 

Performing an aggressive act against another pilot and therefore triggering an agression timer

Aggression Timer 

A timer initiated by firing upon a target, repairing the ship of a pilot with an agression timer, creating a warp bubble that prevents a ship from warping, stealing from another pilot’s wreck or can, etc.

Agro

Alliance Slot 

An activity slot available at an alliance starbase structure or outpost.

Alloyed Tritanium Bar 

A form of salvage.

Alpha 

(abbr.) Alpha-strike. The instantaneous damage dealt by a volley of one or more weapons.

Alt 

(abbr.) An alternate character. This may refer to a character besides the current one, or every character owned by a player.

AML 

(initial) Assault Missile Launcher and variations.

Anathema 

A tech 2 Amarr covert ops frigate.

Anshar 

The Gallente jump freighter.

AP 

(initial) Autopilot.

Apoc 

(abbr.) An Apocalypse battleship.

(slang) Any ship used lure other players into shooting it. These ships are often fit in a non-standard way.

BCS 

(initial) Ballistic Control System and variations.

BCU 

(initial) Ballistic Control Unit. Ballistic Control System and variations.

Beams

Belt 

A planetary asteroid belt with asteroids which can be mined.

BH 

(initial) Bug Hunter. A member of ECAID.

Bist 

(abbr.) Bistot.

Blasters 

(abbr.) Blasters Hybrid Turrets.

Blob 

(slang) A fleet designed to compete utilizing shear numerical superiority. Often used negatively.

Blinky 

(slang) A blinking overview entry of a pilot who has committed a recent act of aggression or is an outlaw in high security space.

Blood jump 

(slang) The act of purposefully jumping to the location of a medical clone by deliberately being podded.

Blue

1. The default overview color of a character with high or excellent standings.

2. A character with high or excellent standings.

3. The act of setting a pilot/corp/alliance standing to high or excellent.

Blueprint 

An item that facilitates the manufacturing of an item as well as lists the required materials and skills necessary to complete the activity.

BPC 

(initial) Blueprint copy.

BPO 

(initial) Blueprint original.

BS 

(initial) A Battleship class ship.

Bubble

1. (slang) A warp disruption field generated by a Mobile Warp Disruptor Sphere, Warp Disrupt Probe, Warp Disruption Field Generator.

2. (slang) A Warp Disruption Field Generator.

3. (slang) An Interdiction Sphere Launcher I.

4. (slang) A Warp Disrupt Probe.

Bubbled 

(slang) A gate, station, or other high traffic area that has a warp disruption field deployed nearby.

Buffer Tank 

(slang) A ship fitted with a large amount of effective hit-points and no other local tank.

Camp 

(slang) A gang of players waiting for the purpose of attacking passersby and/or war targets.

Can 

(slang) A cargo container in space.

Can Tipping 

(slang) The process of stealing the contents of targeted user’s cargo canister, jettisoning the now stolen items into a new cargo canister, with the hope that the targeted user will remove the contents of the new canister, thus stealing from the user and allowing combat to occur without the presence of CONCORD.

Cane 

(abbr.) A Hurricane battlecruiser.

Cap

1. (abbr.) Capacitor.

2. (slang) To capture a factional warfare complex.

Caps

Cargo Expander 

Expanded cargoholds and variations.

Carebear 

(slang, pejorative) Players who avoid PvP combat.

Cerb

CCC

1. (initial) Capacitor control circuit. An energy grid rig.

2. A chat message indicating that the character has generated a cynosural field and that capital or other jump-capable ships should jump to the field.

CCP 

(initial) Crowd Control Productions. The creators of EVE Online.

CEO 

(initial) Chief executive officer, the person in charge of a player corporation.

CJ 

(initial) Clone jump.

Cloaky 

(slang) A ship fitted with a cloak.

Clone 

A pilot’s body, either in use or in storage somewhere in the EVE universe.

Clone Jump 

The process of moving from one clone to another.

CN 

(initial) The Caldari Navy NPC corporation.

CNR 

(initial) Caldari Navy Raven. A Raven Navy Issue.

Component 

An intermediate material created from commonly accessible materials and utilized in the manufacturing of advanced or large scale items.

CONCORD 

The NPC police force of New Eden who responds to criminal acts committed in 1.0 to 0.5 security space.

CONCORDED 

(slang) The condition of losing a ship to CONCORD.

CONCORDOKKEN 

(slang) An extreme example of losing a ship to CONCORD. Made popular in this video by The Riz.

Copy 

(abbr.) A blueprint copy.

Copy Slot 

An activity slot that may only be used for the copying activity.

Corp 

(abbr.) Corporation.

Corporation

1. A player created corporation which players may join.

2. An NPC member corporation of a larger NPC faction.

Corporation Slot 

An activity slot provided by a corporation owned startbase structure or outpost.

CRC 

(initial) Communications Relay Commission (Forum Moderators). Formerly part of the ISD.

Cruises 

(abbr.) Cruise Missile Launchers and variations.

CS 

(initial) A Command Ship class ship.

CSM 

(initial) Council of Stellar Management.

Customs 

The faction NPC ships around stargates that enforce cargo legality, standings, and related penalties.

Cyno 

1. (abbr.) A cynosural field.

Cynosural Field 

The field generated by a cynosural field generator used as a destination for jump drives.

Cyno Ship 

(slang) A ship used for the generation of cynosural fields.

Datacore 

Datacores consumed in an invention attempt.

DB 

(initial) Dark Blood. An object originating with the Blood Raider faction.

DC

DCU

The act of halting all aggressive actions.

Decryptors consumed in an invention attempt.

DG 

(initial) Dread Guristas. An object originating with the Guristas Pirates.

Dictor

Disco Ship 

(slang) A ship fit with a large number of smart bombs.

Disruptor 

(abbr.) Warp Disruptor and variations.

Docking Ring 

A sphere made by all space less than 2500m distance from a station.

DPS 

(initial) Damage Per Second.

Drag bubble 

(slang) A Mobile Warp Disruptor Sphere located in such a way as to draw incoming ships to its location rather than the intended destination.

Dram 

(abbr.) A Dramiel frigate.

Dread 

(abbr.) A dreadnought class ship.

Drones

1. Player controlled drones.

Drone Regions 

The regions of zero security space in which no NPC factions are present, only rogue drones.

(initial) Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane and variations.

EAS 

(initial) Electronic Attack Ship. An Electronic Attack Frigate class ship.

ECAID 

(initial) Equipment Certification and Anomaly Investigations Division. The part of ISD that assists in the processing of bug reports.

ECCM 

(initial) Electronic Counter Counter Measures and variations.

ECM

Eff 

(abbr., slang) Efficiency. A ratio of killed ships to lost ships in number or isk value.

EFT 

(initial) Eve Fitting Tool. A third-party application for fitting ships.

EHP 

(initial) Effective hitpoints. An equivalent number of pure hitpoints equal to the actual shield, armor, and structure hitpoints after considering resistances.

Electrons

1. (abbr.) Light Electron Blasters and variations.

Empire 

(slang) The section of the EVE Online Universe currently controlled by the four main factions.

ETC 

(initial) EVE Time Code. A time code that provides a set amount of additional play time to a user account.

EW 

(initial) Electronic Warfare.

EWAR 

(acronym.) Electronic Warfare.

Executor 

(slang) The leader or ruling corporation of an alliance.

Extenders 

(abbr.) Shield Extenders.

Faction 

The largest NPC group unit. Equivalent to a player alliance, they contain member corporations.

Factional Warfare 

Ongoing warfare between NPC factions that players may participate in by enlisting at a militia office.

FC 

(initial) Fleet Commander.

Fleet Commander 

The pilot in charge of a fleet.

FTL

1. (initial) Faster than light.

2. (initial) For the Loss. Denotes a failed attempt or something bad happening.

FTW 

(initial) For the Win. Denote a successful attempt or something good happening.

Fullerenes 

A highly advanced material collected from gas clouds in wormhole space and utilized in the construction of polymers.

Gamemaster 

CCP staff responsible for providing customer support for EVE Online, as well as enforcing the EULA and Terms of Service.

Gas Cloud

1. An interstellar object that allows the harvesting of gas clouds.

2. A material harvested from a gas cloud of the same name utilized in the manufacturing of booster materials.

Gate 

(abbr.) Stargate. Used to jump a sub-capital ship from one solar system to the next.

Gate camp

1. A group of pilots surreptitiously waiting in the space directly around a stargate.

2. A stargate with a group of pilots surreptitiously waiting directly around it.

GM 

(initial) Gamemasters. CCP staff responsible for providing customer support for EVE Online, as well as enforcing the EULA and Terms of Service.

GCC 

(initial) Global Criminal Cooldown, or Global Criminal Countdown. A timer indicating the player has performed a criminal action in Empire space.

Geddon 

(abbr.) An Armageddon battleship.

GF 

(initial) Good Fight. Used to indicate acknowledgment/honor to another pilot during PvP.

Glass Cannon 

(slang) Any ship that trades defensive capability for offensive capability.

Griefer 

(slang) A user who’s goal it to irritate and harass other players, rather than in pursuit of game objectives.

GTC 

(initial) Game Time Code.

Gurista 

A member of the Guristas Pirates.

HAC 

(initial) A Heavy Assault Ships class ship.

HAM

A slot on ships in which only a specific type of module can be placed. Usually refers to slots for weapons, such as turret hardpoints or launcher hardpoints.

Harvesters

Hauler 

(slang) An industrial or large cargo capacity ship that can be used to items from one to another location.

HC 

(initial) The help chat channel.

Heavies

Hem, Hemo  

(abbr.) Hemorphite ore.

HIC

Inquisitor 

An amarr frigate.

Insignia 

A form of payment received as loot usually from storyline missions.

Installation

1. A station service that allows for the creation of an activity job.

2. A starbase array that allows for the creation of an activity job.

3. The act of creating an activity job using a slot.

Installation Guide 

A Guristas datafile. +80% probability. +4 max run. -1 ME. +2 PE.

Instant Undock 

(slang) A bookmark directly in line with the undock route of a station. Used to warp instantly after undocking.

Invention 

A means of creating a blueprint copy of a Tech Level 2 item.

Invention Slot 

An activity slot that may only be used for the invention activity.

IPO

ISK 

(initial) InterStellar Kredits, the common currency of EVE Online.

(slang) A station with a docking ring narrow enough that an undocking ship will drift outside the ring during its 30-second session change timer.

Kill rights 

Rights given to a pilot to fire upon a current or past aggressor without interference from CONCORD or sentry guns.

Killboard 

A website where a pilot, Corporation, or Alliance posts killmails.

Killmail 

The mail notification a pilot receives when they are killed, or when they kill another pilot and strike the final blow.

KM

KOS 

(abbr.) Kill On Sight.

LAR 

(initial) Large Armor Repairer.

Leeroy 

(slang) The act of charging ahead into danger without care. A reference to Leeroy Jenkins.

Levi 

(abbr.) A Leviathan titan.

Lights 

(abbr.) Standard Missile Launchers and variations.

Liquid Ozone 

Fuel consumed by starbases, cynosural field generators, clone vat bays, and jump bridges.

LO 

(initial) Liquid Ozone.

Logi 

(abbr.) A logistics class ship.

Lolfit 

(slang) : A very poorly fitted PvP ship, with modules wildly inappropriate for the role or bonuses of the ship in question.

Lo-sec 

(abbr.) Low security space, with a CONCORD security rating from 0.1 to 0.4. Often a hang-out for pirates and very high level mission runners, among others. See also “0.0” and “hi-sec”.

LP 

(initial) Loyalty Points. Non-transferable points offered as reward for mission completion. They are exchangeable for items at the NPC corporation’s loyalty point store.

(abbr.) A Mackinaw exhumer.

Main 

(abbr.) Main character. This may refer to the current character, or a specific character owned by a player.

Manufacturing Slot 

An activity slot that may only be used for the manufacturing activity.

MAPC 

(initial) Micro Auxilliary Power Core.

MAR 

(initial) Medium Armor Repair.

Mats

Mic

Mom 

(slang, historical) A super-carrier class ship.

Moon Material

Any material that results from the activity of moon harvesting or as a direct result of the refining of those materials.

MWD 

(initial) Microwarpdrive.

Myrm 

(abbr.) A Myrmidon battlecruiser.

NAP 

(initial) Non-Aggression Pact. An agreement to avoid aggression between parties.

Nag 

(abbr.) A Naglfar dreadnought.

Nano

1. (abbr.) A style of ship fitting based around pure speed over of defense.

2. (abbr.) Nanofiber Internal Structure and variations.

Nano Ship 

(slang) Any ship fit with propulsion modules for overall speed and maneuverability.

Navy 

One of the four faction militaries.

NBSI 

(initial) Not Blue, Shoot It. Engagement policy that considers all players without positive standing as shoot on sight.

NC 

(initial) The Northern Coalition. A mutually beneficial coalition of alliances occupying most of the regions to the north of empire.

Neut

1. (abbr.) Energy Neutralizer.

2. (abbr.) Neutral.

Neutral 

A lack of standings toward pilots/corps/alliances. Neutrals in lo-sec and 0.0 security space are usually treated as if they were “red” and hostile.

New Blueprint 

A blueprint original with the same statistics as those sold by on the market: no material or time efficiency research.

Nocx, Nox 

Nocxium ore.

Noob

1. (pejorative) A new player.

2. (pejorative) A new character.

Noobship 

(slang) One of the four starting ships, being the Impairor, Ibis, Velator, and Reaper.

Nos 

(slang) Energy Vampire.

NPC 

(initial) Non Player Character. Any character or character-like entity that is not directly controlled by a player, volunteer, or member of the CCP staff.

NPSI 

(initial) Not Purple, Shoot It. Engagement policy that considers all players not in fleet as shoot on sight.

NRDS 

(initial) Not Red, Don’t Shoot. Engagement policy that considers all players without negative standing as do not engage.

Null-sec 

(slang) Zero-Zero space.
